Obituary for Clayton McFarland

Clayton  McFarland
Clayton McFarland was born August 22, 1929 in Wintergarden, Florida to Mary and Cleveland McFarland.

Clayton received his education in the Wintergarden School System. He was drafted into the service, and upon returning back to Florida, he met Mary. They relocated to Rochester, NY. To this union, six children were born. They were married for 54 years until she was called home.

Clayton worked several jobs, including LobLaws, Spezio and Clows. He enjoyed many activities, including fishing, bowling, and playing cards, but his favorite hobby of all was talking and watching his New York Giants. He would talk non-stop about the Giants, even when they were bad.

Clayton passed away on February 22, 2017. He is preceded in death by 2 brothers: James McFarland and Tim McFarland; and 2 sisters: Bessie Kiner and Alice Williams.

Clayton leaves to cherish his memories; 2 sons: Danny and Cleveland McFarland; 7 daughters: Nettie Yant of Florida, June (Noah) Holmes, Denise McFarland, Brenda McFarland, Berlinda (Johnny) Magee of Rochester, NY; Claidean (Darryl) Council of Rock Hill, South Carolina; and Roslyn Campbell of Atlantic City, NJ; 1 sister, Selina (John) Romney of Rochester, NY; 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 4 great-great-great grandchildren; 4 sisters-in-law: Sally Cain of East Orange, NJ: Lavonia Thomas of Newark, NJ; Rosie Mae Saunders of Quincy, Florida; and Margaret Thornton of Charlotte, NC; 3 brothers-in-law: Ernest Cain of East Orange, NJ: Samuel Thomas of Cocoa, Florida; and Robert Johnson of Rochester NY; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation Thursday 10AM - 11AM with services to follow at the funeral home 109 West Avenue. Interment Grove Place Cemetery.
