Mr. Winfred Rutledge was born in Rochester, NY on April 28, 1954 to the late Willie Smith and Nellie Rutledge. He was the first of four children.
Winfred attended Madison High School. He was a man that had many talents and gifts.
Winfred, affectionately known as “Wimpy”, loved to watch Kung Fu movies. He also enjoyed riding around in his bat-mobile (aka his wheelchair).
Wimpy was well known for his wonderful sense of humor. Even through his pain, he was still able to make us laugh. On Wednesday (the day before his passing), he woke up from a nap and saw several members of his family and said “Boy, I thought that I was in Black Heaven.”, and we all laughed. What a gift!
The gates of Heaven were opened for Wimpy on March 10, 2016. He leaves to cherish his memories; four children: Tasha Iverson of Rochester, NY; Shaniece Iverson of Stone Mountain, GA; Corey Iverson of Rochester, NY; and Derrick Albert of Peekskill NY; 1 sister, Norma Lewin of Rochester NY; 2 brothers: Larry (Wanda) Gibson of Port Charlotte, FL; and Damon Rutledge of Rochester, NY: 3 grandchildren: Dalvin Iverson, Carizma Iverson, and Alizaye O’Neal of Stone Mountain, GA; 2 aunts: Maggie Dozier and Mary Moody of Rochester, NY; a very special cousin, Henrietta Session, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
