Obituary for Emma Sneed

Emma J Sneed, the daughter of the late Elizabeth Thomas and John Lockett whom was born in Smithsville Georgia departed this life on May 19 , 2023. Emma was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church. She sang in the Church Choir. She attended Dunkirk Senior High School in Dunkirk NY and later went on to work at M.Wiles. She relocated to Rochester NY in 1980, where she finally settled and retired from Eastman Kodak. After retirement, she spent time at ABC Head Start working with kids in which she enjoyed.
Emma enjoyed having gatherings at her home and dancing. She also enjoyed going to the casino and fishing. If anyone knew Emma , she was the queen of Garage Sales!

Emma was diagnosed with Cancer in March and she departed this life on May 19th. While going through this battle, she was a strong willed person and a fighter. She pushed through it all to get to the other side.

In addition to her parents, Emma was predeceased by her long time companion John Shah, her grandchildren Marvin Sneed Jr & Antonio Curry, two brothers Johnny Lockett and David Thomas. She leaves behind four brothers , Jimmy Lockett, Thaddeus Lockett, Willie (Freddie)Lockett and Dennis Hardwick. Six sisters -Betty Nealy, Jessie(Buto) & Gladys Lockett, Mary Thomas, Rosie and Alberta Hardwick.

Emma leaves her 7 children to mourn her passing. Robert of Charlotte NC, Marvin Sr( Shirley), Sherri, Gloria of Rochester NY, Jenelle of Buffalo NY, Jennifer and Latoya Sneed of Rochester NY, 9 grandchildren: Cadearrell, Anthony, Demetrius, Terrance, Dominique, Nia, LaDarius, Journy & Kendrick and a host of great-grand kids, nieces, nephews and friends.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday May 30, 2023 from 10-11AM at Metropolitan Funeral Chapels 109 West Avenue. Funeral Service immediately following from 11-12PM.
