Obituary for Hogan Hickman Jr.

Hogan Hickman, Jr was born on September 7, 1944 in Louisville, Mississippi. He was the only son and the fourth of five children of Mattie and Hogan Hickman, Sr.

After graduating high school, he moved o Rochester, NY where he met and later married Ida Mae Catchings and started a family. Among the various jobs he held was with the City of Rochester as a Refuse Collector and at RTS as a Bus Route Driver. In his spare time, he liked to drive especially to his favorite fishing holes in and beyond Monroe County or wherever he heard the fish were biting.

Although Hogan was never an active churchgoer, later in life he began reading the bible regularly and welcomed visits from Jehovah Witnesses on a weekly basis to study and discuss scripture.

Hogan passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Monday, December 5, 2022, at the age of 78. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mattie and Hogan Hickman, Sr; his sisters, Julia Headd, Helen Eiland and Carolyn Hendrix.

He is survived by his sister Princess Adams (Andrew); his children, Patrick D. Hickman, Jermaine Hickman and Brittany Everett; step-daughter, Angela Burch; six grandchildren, Patrick J. Hickman, Marcus Hickman, Destiny Hickman, Jayden Hickman, Jalen Everett and Kamara Hickman and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
