Obituary for Helen L. Whichard- Langley

MRS. HELEN LANGLEY was born October 30, 1930 in Greenville, North Carolina, daughter of Helen Grice-Whichard and Johnny Whichard. She was educated in the public schools of Greenville, North Carolina.

In 1976, Helen relocated to Rochester, New York where she obtained employment as a Domestic Worker. She became a member of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

She was united in holy matrimony to the late Joe Curtis Langley. This union was blessed with ten children. Helen was a family-oriented individual who loved cooking and entertaining family and friends every weekend and holiday. Her home was the place to be to enjoy a delicious, hot meal and share quality time. She could often be found spending hours out shopping or looking for odds and ends at garage sales.

Helen loved children. After the passing of her husband, she single-handedly raised her ten children and went on to raise some of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She would also babysit neighborhood children. Helen lived life to the fullest. In her younger years she loved to party and have a good time.

Having departed this life February 11, 2018 Helen leaves to cherish her memory, her children: Angerline Langley, Denise McNair, Linda Faye Barrett, Helen Gray Langley, Terry Langley, Timothy Langley, Danny Langley, Melvin Langley, Clifton Langley and Jerry Whichard; Godson, Dennis Otis; 22 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren
