Obituary for Pearlie Mae Ridgeway

Pearlie Mae Maye, was born on November 1, 1944 in Greenville, AL to John Henry Maye, Sr. and Pearline Maye. She graduated from the schools in Georgiana, AL.

On July 4, 1958 Pearlie met Bennie James Ridgeway. He was the love of her life. They were married on September 9, 1966. They enjoyed 51 wonderful years together.

Pearlie moved to Rochester, NY in May of 1975. She was employed at Eastman Kodak Co. in the early 1980’s.

Pearlie gave her life to Christ at an early age at Macedonia Baptist Church. She also attended Holy Trinity Baptist Church. She later joined Emmanuel MB Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Douglas Smith. She was a faithful member until she became ill and could no longer attend.

Pearlie enjoyed cooking, baking, and taking care of her family, especially her precious grandchildren. She also enjoyed watching football (GO COWBOYS!).

Pearlie Mae Ridgeway departed this life on April 10, 2017. She is preceded in death by; her parents, John and Pearline Maye; her son, James H. Ridgeway; siblings: John H. Maye, Jim Willie Maye, Henry L. Maye, Freddie L. Maye, Willie J. Maye, Ruby D. Briggs, Martha Johnson, Mary Briggs and Eloise Jones. She leaves to cherish her memories; her loving husband, Bennie J. Ridgeway, Sr.; her children: Bennie R. Ridgeway (Kim), Angela Holiday (Eugene), Anga “Angie” Ridgeway-Whitley (Muriel),Bennie J. Ridgeway, Jr.(Louisa), and Bobby J. Ridgeway (Michelle); a very special daughter-in-law, Wanda Ridgeway; 30 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Zebbie D. Maye (Sarah); 1 sister, Helen Hanah; 5 sisters-in-law; 2 brothers-in-law; a special nephew, Louis E. Maye (Joyce); a special friend, Julia Beaty; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation Friday 6pm-9pm at Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church 1772 Clifford Ave. Funeral service Saturday 11am (Wake begins at 10AM) at the Church. Interment Private.
